Proteus helps protect mencap day centre’s new roof

Proteus Waterproofing has shown its support for a Mencap day care centre in Eastbourne by donating waterproofing membranes as part of a comprehensive refurbishment carried out by Clarke Roofing.

The Mencap Day Care Centre on Pevensey Road, known as the Hive, is a daily activity centre for adults with learning difficulties.  With the roofs of the centre succumbing to weathering and damage over the years, Proteus supported their licensed contractor Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd on the repair and refurbishment of some of the flat roofs, supplying materials for free.

Frank Clarke, Managing Director of Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd, said: “This was a perfect opportunity to use our skills and expertise to contribute very positively to our community and to a charity that desperately needed our help.  We would like to say a huge thank you to our suppliers IKO, Chandlers Building Supplies and Proteus Waterproofing who kindly donated products for us to use throughout the project.”

Eastbourne Mencap COO Paul Durrant said, “We were unsure about how we were going to manage to fund these necessary repairs. We can’t thank everyone involved enough for their valued time, skilled workmanship and all the materials too!”

Proteus Waterproofing takes part in a number of charity initiatives, from sponsoring events to donating materials. The company prides itself on encouraging employees, customers and suppliers to utilise their skills and time through a range of volunteering and fund-raising efforts.
