Proteus Waterproofing has been named as the East of England best Newcomer SME of the Year at the regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2016.

The East of England winners, Proteus Waterproofing, were announced at a high-profile awards ceremony on October 11th which was organised by the National Apprenticeship Service and held at Newmarket Racecourse.  Now in its 13th year, the National Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship employers.

Proteus currently employs two apprentices at its offices in Rayleigh, Essex.  The previous two apprentices have progressed to being permanent members of staff, having successfully completed their apprenticeship programmes at the company.

Rozalind Richardson, Office Manager at Proteus Waterproofing said: “We are delighted and proud that Proteus has been recognised by the National Apprenticeship Service.  Winning this award is a great achievement and underlines the value and the contribution of our apprentices and the training we offer here at Proteus.”

Proteus apprentices work hard to achieve a vocational qualification that stands them in good stead for their future, whilst at the same time being provided with a raft of training and developmental opportunities within an office environment in the construction industry.

“Our company ethos is to take the raw talent and enthusiasm of young people who have a desire to succeed, and through the apprenticeship programme, guide and nurture them.  This helps develop their skills and shape their careers, whilst supporting the growth and future success of the business,” added Rozalind Richardson.

Having won the regional heat, Proteus will now have the opportunity to be crowned as the national winner at the National Apprenticeship Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 20th January 2017.
