Proteus, Britain’s fastest growing waterproofing company, has invested a further £2 million in a massive state of the art warehouse facility near its head office in Rayleigh, Essex.

It is the latest chapter in what has been an ongoing and rapid expansion programme over the last five years – which has seen the company establish itself as a major player across all parts of the UK mainland.

The new 10,000 sq ft warehouse, which reaches a height of more than 10 metres, features an innovative pallet shuttle system, a high density, compact storage solution that utilises remote-controlled, powered satellites to lift, move and place pallets within racks.

It means that pallets can be retrieved from any level, at any time, making product selection easier when compared with other dense storage solutions. Each satellite is an artificially intelligent unit, and through the use of in-built sensor technology can automatically locate, lift and move pallets from one position within a lane to another.

The new warehouse, based at Arterial Park, a new industrial estate close to the A127/A130 junction, was opened over the Easter weekend to avoid any delays in providing materials to the growing number of approved Proteus Waterproofing contractor customers.

“The warehouse has allowed us to increase our stock profile which will give our customers certainty when specifying Proteus materials for future projects,” said Justin Pitman, sales director for Proteus Waterproofing.

“Having significant stock volumes will further enable us to satisfy customer requirements in the face of everchanging global supply chain issues. Contractors and specifiers need to have more certainty that materials will be available and this investment enables us to more easily fulfil that commitment.”

The Proteus office team will still be the first port of call for processing new orders, and will be available to answer customer queries. These orders will then be collected or dispatched as required from the new warehouse.

The new warehouse marks a remarkable period of growth for Proteus which originally began as a company supplying customers only in London and the south east, some 10 years ago.

It has since expanded into the Midlands, the North and Scotland and has recently opened a new training facility in Yorkshire to service its growing number of approved contractors. The company has also continued to expand its product range and the level of technical support it can offer specifiers and contractors.

And, says Proteus – there is more to come…..
