Project Brief
When the communal walkways at a residential block in Portsmouth began to show signs of failure, Portsmouth City Council required a new waterproofing system that could be applied over the existing asphalt surface. Following assessments of a range of systems, the client selected the fast curing Pro-BW Flex system from Proteus Waterproofing to minimise disruption to residents, waterproof the existing asphalt and prevent rainwater damage to the concrete slab underneath.

Key Requirement: Quality Control
Particularly in view of the complex nature of detailing to pipes, door thresholds and handrail posts, Proteus Waterproofing and its Licensed Contractor worked in close partnership to successfully deliver the project to a very high standard.

Key Requirements: Minimal Disruption
The walkways form both the day to day access, and the Fire Escape Route. Pro- BW Flex ensured minimal disruptions and inconvenience to residents thanks to its fast cure, allowing foot traffic within two hours of installation. One walkway was completed within five hours.

Key Requirement: Health and Safety
Working on occupied buildings, particularly residential blocks, safety is always of utmost importance.Being cold installed, Pro-BW Flex met this criteria, minimising risk to both the contractor’s operatives and St Marys Road residents.

Key Requirement: Durability
The Pro-BW Flex waterproofing system comes in a variety of colours and offers 10, 15 and 20 year durability options. The Pro-Aggregate EM forms a durable, skid inhibiting finish.
